What is the Math Lab?
The Math Lab is here to help. That is its
sole purpose. It is here to help you become a better
student. Whether we help you understand your calculator, a
topic, or an entire course, we are here for you.
Your instructor is always the best resource for
any course. He or she may also suggest you visit the Math
Lab open hours for extra help or practice (see the schedule for
up to date listings!).
You never need an appointment to visit the Math
Lab; all of our services are on a drop in basis. When you
come in, sign the roster and get to work. One of our peer
tutors will be with you to help you through your current
questions.
Well, we can help you through homework
assignments, help you with difficult concepts, and even help you
study for exams or quizzes. Since we have a number of
additional textbooks, we can also give you additional problems
for you to practice--so you can be SURE you understand!
It's always best to come with a few questions or
areas to work with. You also don't want to cover too much
in one setting--Marathon math (or ANY subject) sessions can do
more harm than good. If you break it up throughout the
week, and you'll find you understand things better and faster.

There are some things that the Math Lab workers
cannot do for you.
-
They
won’t allow you to drop off work to be checked and picked up
later.
-
They won’t correct errors. You will
have to make actual corrections yourself.
-
They won’t assist with take-home exams or
quizzes.
-
They won’t be judgmental about your work.
Under NO circumstances will someone at the Math
Lab assist with an exam or quiz. Please do not even try.
We will report your actions to the Instructor AND the Academic
Dean as a violation of the
Academic Honesty Policy, which could result in your
dismissal
from the college.
